I’ve not been fulfilling my blogger role around here. Not much at all. You’ll have to give me some credit, friends, I’m going on 10 years of blogging between 3 websites. I’m a little tired and somewhat over it. I’m in the blogger phase where I’d rather physically do activities I enjoy, spend time on my craft, get my hands dirty, and basically experience more of life than plop my bum down and pump out a post.
Please do send any questions you might have (which a number of you are already doing). I can tell you how we handle certain repairs to wood furniture, about products we like for refurbishing pieces, give you hardware resources. We can chitchat about furniture or whatever you’d like. I love to talk shop and am always also up for gabbing about home improvement projects. Our other passion and career.
This shade of perfect green gray is big this year. It’s from one of my new favorite paints, Fusion Mineral Paint (color is Bedford). Love it so much that I’m using it on a special door project I have going on and hope to share later. $350
I am not, however, over Instagram or Pinterest. (Twitter, yes. Long ago. Facebook, nearly. Snapchat, no thanks. Everything else doesn’t come up on my radar as important to me.) You can find us on Instagram sharing mini blog posts almost every day. I basically just wanted to drop in and let you know this bit o’ news. It’s the best way to get ahold of us quickly, say if you have to have a piece of furniture in our shop and can’t go on without it in your house. That kind of situation. Speaking of that, we’re running low on items in the shop. You can find what’s still available here on our main page.
I used Rit dye to stain this oak mirror for a modern grain appearance. I felt inspired by Japanese aizome. Japanese woodworking techniques fascinate us. We hope to get into the Japanese art of “shou-sugi-ban” or preserving wood by charring it. There are some gorgeous pieces of furniture, siding and flooring out there using this technique. $140
I can’t promise much of anything coming out of the workshop. Wait, no. I do have a few things that will be available once I snap their pretty pictures. An old spindle bed that looks rather chic these days…a table I once said I wouldn’t sell…roughly 100 doors for the house. So those doors won’t be for sale, but I will be painting those suckers soon.
Just finished this cute side table/child’s desk/nightstand. I’m loving shades of green right now (as you can tell). $125
Also, we have once again entered the “doing” phase of remodeling our house toward a spring/summer resale, so we’re taking on less client work. That’s right, the home shop will be moving and current place (nearly all of our visiting customers love) will be on the market. I plan to have an announcement or two down the line where I will go into detail about some other issues that have popped into our lives. Until then, see you on Instagram.
